How to Install a Saddle Valve on a Pressurized PPR Pipe

๐ Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)
Clean and Prep the Pipe Surface
Locate a straight, undamaged section of PPR pipe with at least 10 cm of clearance on all sides. Wipe the exterior clean with a microfiber rag and lightly scuff the clamp zone with 400-grit sandpaper to remove surface oxidation. Ensure the pipe is completely dry and free of grit.

Position Gasket and Saddle Base
Apply a thin layer of plumber's silicone grease to the EPDM gasket seat. Align the saddle base with the gasket squarely centered over the target drill point on the PPR pipe. Hold the lower bracket in place beneath the pipe to align the bolt holes.

Fasten Clamp Bolts Evenly
Thread all clamping bolts by hand until finger-tight. Use a hex wrench to tighten opposing bolts incrementally in a diagonal pattern, maintaining an even gap between clamp halves on both sides until fully torqued.

Engage the Tapping Cutter
Ensure the integrated ball valve is in the open position to allow the cutter shaft to pass through. Thread the tapping spindle tool into the valve outlet until the cutting tip contacts the pipe wall. Place a catch bucket directly beneath the fitting.

Drill Pipe Wall and Retract Cutter
Rotate the tapping tool handle clockwise with steady forward pressure to cut through the PPR wall. Once resistance drops indicating breakthrough, immediately retract the spindle fully past the valve ball mechanism by rotating counter-clockwise.

Close Valve and Remove Tapping Tool
