Square Cut and Internal Reaming
Align your tubing cutter perpendicular to the pipe and rotate smoothly, tightening the blade knob slightly every full turn until cut through. Insert the triangular reaming blade inside the pipe mouth and rotate 360 degrees to scrape away the internal burr created by the cutter wheel.
- โข Pipe end is cut at a crisp 90-degree angle.
- โข Internal pipe wall is perfectly smooth with no inward-curled metal or plastic lip.
- โข Skipping reaming, which restricts water flow and causes turbulent erosion.

Abrasive Surface Prep and Dry-Fit Verification
Scour the outer 1 inch of the pipe end with emery cloth and scrub the interior of the fitting hub with a wire brush until bright, bare material is exposed. Push the pipe completely into the fitting socket until it hits the internal stop, and draw a reference line across the seam with a pencil to confirm full engagement depth.

Apply an even layer of pipe dope directly over the tape, leaving the very first thread bare to prevent excess paste from entering the water stream.
